Aye carumba! The site was down for less than 24 hours, but it was so unexpected and mysterious that it had me quite worried! It all started with an email I received that cryptically stated the following: Password Lost and Changed for user: admin. So I immediately tried to log in and… no such luck. I got my password changed and immediately upgraded to the newest version of WordPress. When I tried to verify the success of my upgrade, I suddenly couldn’t connect to the database and then all the pages listed under my user name at the hosting company were out of commission. We figured that out and got everything working again, but the database was still vanished. Thankfully, Jerry speaks Techie, so he contacted the hosting company and it was all restored! I’ll spare you the rest of the boring details, but I’m so relieved that everything’s up and running again!

Now, before I get hacked again or just lose everything out of pure bad luck, I’m going to back up the whole damn site!

While I’m doing that, why don’t you let me know what your favorite contact management system is… and what you think is the most *secure*.

Since I was a child, I dreamed of writing articles, stories, and poems that would make money. Now I have that chance. At least on a small scale. A site named Associated Content allows people to submit material for publication. When these items are reviewed and placed on the site, the author is paid for page views.

I have published two of my previous blog posts there. My profile is located here. You can find my article on the Eee PC here. And my article on the bailout of the automobile industry is here.

I would really appreciate it if you would visit these pages and give me a page view. I would love it if you could pass on the links to people you know that might be interested in the topics. Every page view puts me closer to making a little bit of money.

Let me say, also, that money is not my only motivation. I really just want to share my ideas and perceptions with as many people as possible. It might seem vain to think that what I have to say might be interesting to a wide variety of people, but it’s something that I have to believe. I have been writing since elementary school and I think I’m pretty good at organizing my thoughts and presenting them in an interesting way. If you disagree, please leave me comments so I can take your ideas for improvement into consideration. I am passionate about sharing my ideas and writing in a concise, engaging way.

So please visit my articles at Associated Content and help me share my ideas, earn some money, and hone my writing skills. Thank you!

I think the Joomla system is useful if you are a large group that needs to allow multiple people to post pages. However, for a single person I think something like WordPress is just fine.

Please let me know what you think of the new site!

That photo in the center was taken June 27th, 2008 in St. Paul Minnesota on a boat ride up the Mississippi River. I was so happy to see an eagle. I hope you like it!

To whoever dug us out of the remaining snow on our sidewalks and driveway with a snowblower, I say thanks. We were in no shape to do shoveling again. I had no idea that shoveling could make your hands sore. I knew my whole body would hurt, but not my hands. Thanks.
