Havenwoods State Forest

It’s strange how you can live in a place but not visit all the fun places nearby. So, though we’ve lived here for several years we’ve never visited Havenwoods State Forest before. That’s why we went today to take some pictures. When we arrived, the sky was bright but overcast. We knew rain was coming and hoped to get a nice nature walk in before it began. But we got soaked towards the end of the walk. It was enough to make us feel like little kids again! Here are some of the best shots from our visit.

Bye bye winter

Wisconsin’s winter has ended early, and that’s tragic for people like me who like to wrap up in warm blankets and wear sweaters while sitting in front of the fire. But since the brown grass is giving way to green grass and plants are starting to bud, I thought I’d take the opportunity to document some of the transformation. I had the perfect chance the other day when I was walking a dog. We passed a budding tree shortly after a light rain had stopped, so the green was vibrant and there were water droplets hanging. It was just such a perfectly spring sight.
